The Lefty Wright Grade Level Championships is the premier JV Cross Country race of the season. A chance for your racers to see how they stack up against other racers in their age group.
Who Was Lefty Wright?
Longtime St. Louis Park High School Activities Director Eugene “Lefty” Wright made a major impact on track and field and cross country as a coach and official for more than 50 years.
He’s a member of the Minnesota Track and Field Hall of Fame (1984), the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame (2002), St. Louis Park Athletic Hall of Fame (2011), and MSHSL Hall of Fame (2011). He was selected Regional Athletic Director of the Year five times from 1977 to 1993. Wright was meet director of the Minnesota State High School League state cross country meet for 46 years and was the lead official at the state track and field meet for 22 years.
